• What is the response time? Response time measures the timing for a screen’s images to switch back and forth from black to white to black. You want a lower response time, as a higher response can mean image suspension. Image suspension often creates a ‘trailer effect’ which is bad for action movies/shows and sporting events, because the image appears to linger longer than is actually happening.   
• What contrast ratio is offered by the different 40” LCD TVs? Contrast ratio with an LCD TV is the differential in the shades of black and white. You want a higher contrast ratios, so that images appear compactly, with the best color settings.   
• What is the aspect ratio? Shoot for the 16:9 aspect ratio to ensure HD compatibility.   

• Does the 40 inch LCD TV offer a wide viewing angle? You want as wide a viewing angle as possible, as this permits viewing from all angles. Many 40” LCD TVs do not provide a viewing angle greater than 40 degrees for each side of the central axis.  
• Are the 40” LCD TV options HD compatible? HD is obviously the way to go here, as more and more channels are being offered in HD, with great quality.   
• What is the image sharpness? You don’t want the pixels to stretch.   
• Do the 40” LCD TVs offer zero burn-in? As a TV’s light rays are emitted, LCD televisions have typically countered burn-in aspect.
